need a 1/2\" X 8\" thermowell

I can't find one anywhere, 3 different wholesalers tell me they don't exist, longest they have is 5". I know Viessmann supplies them with their tanks, I suppose I could get one from them if I had to.

Any ideas?

  • Is this,

what you are looking for? W-R seems to have an 8¼" one. Or you could use the "packing-nut" type and insert whatever length capillary.

An 1/2 copper to male adapter, a cap

and file or drill out the stop in the cop X FIP adapter. Sooldedr on the cap, cool, teflon tape and tighten away.

Use L or K copper for a nice long lasting well.

    Zac,

Buderus has one for their horizontal tanks. It's made for them by Honeywell I believe. The depth of the tube from the bottom of the mount is a bit over 8". Find a Buderus dealer and they'll be able to get it. Chris

    Mamac, yup

Good stuff across their line. I do like Hot Rod's home-grown well idea too. Cool.

Do not forget the heat-conductive paste. In a pinch you can use Vaseline and aluminum powder. If the well is vertical, use mineral oil or glycerin kept about an inch down from the top for expansion.

those look nice, but i need at least 3/8" ID to fit tekmar universal sensor.

i think those buderus ones are the same as the viessmann ones, we have better viessmannn representation around here though.

i'll probably try hot rods idea, same thing i was going to do for my custom copper towelwarmer to be able to attach it to the wall w/flanges ;)
  • Or perhaps

    These?

You can bush down the 1/2 copper tube

to get to whatever diameter sensor you need. I started drilling 1/2 copper adapters years ago to mount Grohe hand held shower adapters.

I'd be glad to ship this one to you.
