Beating the Heat

Hope you all aren't killing yourselves in this heatwave... I've been working in semi A/C space (about 80F) whenever I'm not in the office. Just mowing the lawn or picking the garden is about all I can handle in the great outdoors.
LOW temp I recorded last night was 77F! It's been in the upper 90s for nearly two weeks with the hottest predicted for this week. Dewpoints in the low to mid 70s. No significant rain for about 6 weeks. Anything that's not watered is getting browner than I've seen in years. Only grass (most is bluegrass) growing in my lawn is the crabgrass.
Even some larger trees aren't looking good. We had a severe and late freeze after most trees had fully leafed out and most quite literally had to grow an entire new set of leaves.

Temps
Our low in Butte was 45°F last night. However, there was ash from the forest fires on my car this morning and more floating in the air. I'll probably have to change the air filter in my car after fire season is over.0 -
Hot'n'drought finally over
Until last week we here in cleveland were in quite a drought and heat wave. Its my fault for two reasons: I seeded a new lawn (the only other time I seeded a new lawn we had one of the hottest driest summers on record), and I accepted a couple of casement window restoration jobs (which I haven't done in years). Outdoors on ladders. Nice timing. Phew.
So I get a call from a prospective steam heating client wondering if I can work on his system now, figuring my rate would be better off-season. What I do for steam systems is cleaning, descaling, balancing, combustion analysis/draft control.
I'm afraid I blew any illusion of professionalism when I accidentally snorted while laughing myself silly.
He dropped the idea after I told him exactly how hot the house would have to become to do this kind of job in these temperatures.

Can't wait for 80's
I can't wait to get home to the 80's. It has been around 120 over here but the humidity is only around 10%.

Heat
We've been having 95 degree days and 65 degree nights. The lovely Yan Hua is getting tomatos by the 5 gallon pail . I was called to a condo to replace a Water Heater. You know the type in the shed on the deck in full sun . I hit the jack pot though, their brand new 13 seer system had so many leaks. I had to leave the door half open it was 58 degrees in there.0
