"Looking Good"! Not to be critical, but may I ask,,is there and indirect on this? If not, I find pumping "into" the TV does not work as well as pulling away. Also, since the Laars already has a gauge at its outlet, could you use this(with another), to check your ΔΤ on the secondary side?

Dave

The laars will now be a P/S and the peerless will be a direct return with a system bypass. All 4 returns will loop below the manifold to prevent migration, and spring checks will go above the B&G 2 stagers. I think they look just a bit better...

Hi, trying to learn here, so may ask a few questions?

On the Laars, would it be better to have the Spirovent on the top horizontal pipe to eliminate possible air lockup in the loop?

Is the Grundfos pump on the first photo part of the bypass, and if it is is it one of the new models that varies the speed according to the return port temp?

The spiro was placed there to be prior to the pri circ, and to get the water at it's hotest point to help with air removal. The grund circ is a 15-58 3-speed, and can be seen as the mystery circ on the before pic of the Laars.
*edit* I should add that the 15-58 does not vary depending on return temp. I will set the flow and leave it. Works well this way, I found.

I use the TV on the return to ensure return temps of no less than 140* to the Laars. That is in the TV's instructions, and the last one I did worked well this way. The gauge is there because it did not fir the Laars's gauge tap, and the Laar's gauge is incorrect.

  • True Tim,

now don`t get your back up, I find pumping into the TV on an application like this keeps it closed from secondary return water longer letting the boiler itself hit limit, and overheating the rads.
