Anyone using Wilo Stratos yet
Just wondering if any have used the Stratos yet to speak of. If so, what do ya think. Just looked at a building yesterday that had two 1950s end suction B&G direct coupled pumps, 1.5hp, 145gpm @ 20ft. Thermostatic valves on all radiators. Appx 130 units in bldg. Was thinking that maybe the stratos might be a possible good fit depending on pump curve. ??? any thoughts, Tim0 -
1950's pumps
The fact that these pumps have lasted that long is a bit of an indicator of the reliability of these pumps. Why not use something you know for sure will last. Made in The windy city. Parts easily available. Best representation in the business. K.0 -
You should let the Wallies know
that you work for a B&G rep. I used to work for a B&G rep too.Retired and loving it.0 -
Just put one in a residence with a total of 31 zones and over 750K BTU of firing power. I'll let you know how well I like it. Wonder if I'm the first in our area Tim? I placed my order b4 they were available in our wholesale houses.0 -
Ahhh
But that would not be true salesmanship if he said that now would it
Sorry for the gentle dig; we're all trying to sell something. I'm will need to be selling a lot to pay for my new large by huge building.
Anyway, I need to ask Josh where oh where he got his 10 digits on these things.0 -
Josh-man
where do you acquire these units? Please email me so i can enjoy the same virtues of circulation.

Residence?

Are you sure it wasn't a hotel or public building? :-) And I tell my wife that our retirement home plans are too big!0 -
Stratos Installations
Hi Tim. Steve Thompson here (VP of Tech and Training - WILO North America).
We just received our first shipment of North American style Stratos pumps last Friday and 4 are already installed in Denver (I can send you details if you like).
Prior to that, to make sure this technology works over here I have 20 test locations throughout North America running over the last 2 years (various applications from typical hydronic systems to solar, geothermal, BMS systems, controlling return water temperature etc) . The first test installation in North America was in a church that John Sigenthaler attends (he updated the system - real cool stuff).
Another interesting installation was in Chicago (this one made our international WILO web site!) - link below.
As we move along with this product we will post more installations on our updated North American web site - stay tuned...
Thanks for the interest!

145 @ 20 Feet Stratos
Hello again Tim. Regarding your application - exactly the type of installation the Stratos is built for!
I have attached a couple of data sheets for you to have a look at (we have a larger model but this one is very close to the design point).
Any questions, let me know...0 -
Steve
I met you in Albany. I can't seem to reach anyone; i tried the number you gave me to call for availability. Might you be so kind by sending me an email or a phone call? 413-626-5548 or gary@wilsonph.com. Thanks. I have a somewhate elaborate system I need to start on pretty soon.0 -
One question... Will they have instructions in English cause the one I just put in was a pain in the butt to configure!0 -
Through a Canadian friend eh? Paid a serious premium! I think they will be available here in a few weeks...0 -
B& G rep
I already figured that out from the post, point taken that you can't kill those old pumps easily. Great old standby. I work on 1000s of old B&Gs but times are a changing I think. Tim0 -
Sal I should specify that 550,000 of those BTU's are for domestic hot water and other auxiliary loads. The house is only about 11,000 square feet. The Stratos is one the house load only.0 -
Relative perceptions
I guess you guys are used to working on those castles. Shouldn't one expect a smilie to accompany the phrase "only about 11,000 square feet?" :-)
If I won the lottery, my fantasy residence would be pretty small in the middle of a *large* tract of land.0 -
just went to the Stratos training class this thursday in Chicago. Quite the impressive piece of equipment...it's hard to say just what this thing doesn't do! Thanks to Steve for a great presentation and to the Shearer Co. for paying my way!0 -
Amen to that!! Me too.0 -
Setting Up Stratos and the Quick Start Manual
Hi Josh.
What model Stratos did you install? We've published two North American manuals, one is detailed and the other is a one page quick start manual (copy att). I will be able to tell by the number if you installed a "test" metric model that would have the European manual or the final North Americanized version (all North AMerican Stratos models will have North American manuals of course).
Let me know if you need the full North American I/O...0 -

Thank you so much steve. Actually I managed to get the "English" version.
I am very happy with it though. Have 4 houses slated for Stratos in the near future. Can't wait for my suppliers to bring them in for me!0
