I'm now at 34 days, 5 hours and 16 minutes. I have the exact time of the last one written down. Haven't snitched even one but can't say the temptation isn't there yet. Good to read about the 90 re-wire of the ol' hard drive. Makes me think there's light at the end of the tunnel and I can start to see it.

Encouragement for JCA and SE, and others quitting smoking...

Time magazine just published some very interesting medical info on how & why we become addicted to all sorts of substances and behaviours, but I won't rehash it here, pick up the magazine if you want the whole story. However, the very encouraging thing that was pointed out is that within 90 days of stopping use of whatever substance, the brain "rewires" itself and "resets", so cravings and temptations are greatly reduced. The research indicates that the brain returns to normal function in that time.

In addition, you lungs' "self-cleaning" mechanism starts up again, your taste buds re-activate, and the CO levels in your blood drop dramatically. Hang in there! It's the best thing you can do for yourself & your family.

7 weeks yesterday and I'm not looking back!

I hope the research is right...because I still find myself reaching for 1 in certain situations.It becomes apparent at the most stressful times....mostly driving, around here.

I do it as a reflex reaction still, then think that.... I don't do that anymore!

It seems to be going away but is still noticable once in a while.

Thanks for the encouragement. Steve will see this and say the same thing....I bet. Chris
