WILO Basics and Detailed Stratos Training - Chicago and Calgary

If you build it, they will come.
After going to Steve's Albany, NY class last week, I've asked around. One supplier wants nothing to do with WILO, as least not yet. Another supplier looked at me like I had three heads. He got back to me later that day saying, he'll call me when he has some info.
They'll come around.
Question for Steve: I know the ECO will come out later this year. But what about a product for Solar. Seems like a low energy pump should be the ONLY solution with Solar hot water.

WILO Basics and Detailed Stratos Training - Chicago and Calgary
Good day Wallies.
A quick note to make you aware of a couple of training sessions I am running in our facilities in Calgary (July 4th and 5th) and Chicago (July 18th and 19th). I have attached the registration and agendas below.
Briefly, the basics part is exactly that - just basics. Running the AM of the first day and a repeat in the evening of the first day (I split this to facilitate people that can not attend during the day or evening due to time commitments). You can attend either the basics or Stratos seperatey, attend both, either day - whatever you like!
The Stratos is product specific and is an advanced session that deals with applications, start-up, options (Inter Face Modules like the LON module) and diagnostics (infra-red device etc). It will run the afternoon of the first day and the evening of the second day.
I'm not 100% sure if there are any openings left but if interested send in the form and at the very least we will put you on the list for the next session.
Appologize for the lack of notice - we'll do better next time...
Regards to all...0 -

I thoroughly enjoyed your presentation in Boston (Dedham). Thanks again. You are as busy as I would expect. Keep doing what you are doing!
Hope you get good US attendance on July 4th. We have this perhaps annoying-to-you celebration, the cause of which got the English-speaking Canadian population off to a good start. So I suppose you can tolerate it a bit?"If you do not know the answer, say, "I do not know the answer", and you will be correct!"

More importantly...
... where and when will the Stratos come to the US market? Which distributors will carry it in our neck of the woods? (i.e. Boston)

Mike Rogers and Peter Sweeney. I am not sure of the arrangement as to how they operate (wholesalers versus distributors or even if they sell retail at all) but do know that they sell many products direct to contractors. Good guys."If you do not know the answer, say, "I do not know the answer", and you will be correct!"

Stratos Availability
Good question Constantin.
The UL approved North American versions are starting to arrive this coming week.
As far as local distributors go for Boston, please contact our rep, Sweeney Rogers at psweeney@sweeneyrogers.com (we are adding distributors daily making it difficult to keep up). I should know this but have been kind of busy with the technical and training part of my job to keep a list of distributors current - sorry bout that...
They will be able to direct you to a local distributor. Short of that you can E Mail me back and I'll foreward your inquiry to our factory sales guy, Bob McDonough.0 -
Stocking?
If a supplier successfully already stocks, Taco, Grundfos or B&G and all their customers are accustomed to buying these brand why would a supplier switch to Wilo? Switching brand is a difficult thing to do. Customers like consistency in their suppliers. You are looking at line card and website changes. These things cost money. I think the established brand are safe and that Wilo will be a mail order product for a while.
******Steve, please name ANY numerous stocking distributors in the area or any area*******

Wilo for DHW recirculation?
Steve,
Here's what I posted in the most recent Wilo thread; there were no responses. Can you offer any insight?
"1 watt pumps are the future !!!!!!!"
This sounds like a perfect pump for DHW recirculation; low power consumption and low copper erosion. Anyone using them for that purpose?0 -
Field of Dreams
Hi Singh - hope you enjoyed the class last week.
Tom Kane from J R Baker can direct you to numerous stocking distributors in your area.
Regarding ECM technology and Solar (Stratos and Stratos ECO), I agree 100% this is an excellent application for solar AND geothermal. We have solar specific products in Europe we're looking at bringing over (for example a variable flow/head pump for solar drain back systems). Solar is a huge opportunity for all - we'll keep you informed as products are available for this market.
North American test sites combining Solar and Stratos are already running.
Thanks for your feedback.0 -
One Watt and DHW
Hello Sal.
We have a tough time responding to one watt threads - early in the concept/development stages (and application development stages). Appologies for not responding on the previous thread.
I totally agree smaller DHW pumps and/or pumps that change flow based on, for example return water temp in a DHW application, are good ideas (saves potable water AND uses less energy than larger constant speed DHW recircs). DHW recircs are probably the best example of oversizing we have. Interesting possibilities for a one watt pump for sure (no test applications to date though).
Great points of discussion - thanks for the insite.0
