It seems that Paul became a more interesting bass player on the last couple of Beatles albums and then with Wings - but the DVDs covers that I see of his more recent concerts show him with a guitar? The Superbowl halftime show he did a few years ago was great, normally I wouldn't watch what garbage they usually stick in there...

Was "Band on the Run" named for most of his group fleeing riots or something in South Africa during the recording sessions, or just a coincidence? I think just him, his wife, and guitar player finished the album on their own. "Let me Roll it" is one of the best songs, ever (that you never hear anymore).

This song was written for Julian Lennon by Paul and JOhn while fooling around at Johns House. It was Julians Birthday and he was done because John and Cynthia were getting divorced.

I've read

that Paul wrote "Hey Jude" for Julian too.

But John always heard it as a song for him, because Yoko had just come into the picture ("You have found her, now go and get her").

Regardless, it's one of Paul's masterpieces.

And it's great that Paul is still with us.
