Where can I find a tool like this?

I'm not entirely sure I understand what you're doing, but I would buy a cheap (maybe not too cheap) 6-point deep socket and take an angle grinder and grind my own slot. It would probably cost less even if you have to buy a cheap angle grinder.

For fittings with tubing already attached
Although the condensation (when first filled) caused most of the moisture at the tank bottom, I suspect there is still a tiny seepage from the bottom fitting on my hot water tank. I know I didn't get it tight enough.
I'm looking for a socket wrench tool like this, but more heavy duty, so I can tighten the 3/4" NPT fitting (1" hex) with the 1/2" copper tubing still attached (and then use a sharkbite coupling to reconnect so I won't have to drain the 40 gallon tank).

There isn't room for a crowfoot, so it has to be some kind of deep socket, open to the side... What is the correct name, so at least tool suppliers will know what I'm looking for?
thanks

try a showerbody type long socket0 -
Socket
Andrews' idea works. I had some sockets made up at a machine shop. A deep well socket with a slot, then cut in half with a piece of pipe with a matching slot welded between the drive end and the socket end to make it about 8 inches long.0 -
socket
I would stop playing around with the male adapter. Remove it and install a 4" or 5" brass nipple . It will be solid enough you can tighten it from the end with a wrench and then use a female ad.0 -
Nipples
I was thinking of doing that, although there would now be TWO threaded connections with the potential for leaks, instead of just one
Is it OK to use brass fittings in a hot water system? (Local bigbox store, surprisingly, does have 4 inch long, 3/4" pipe nipples in bronze...)
thanks
