radiator painting

I had a client that took two small ones out of two bathrooms where they were near the w/c's and had them chromed. Beautiful bur very expensive. She also had the rest removed, blasted with coconut shells or some such vegatative material, then carted off to new canaan auto body and had them coated with automotive laquer. The same white as her daughter's 2003 acura as I recall. This was 3 or 4 years ago and they still look spectaular. The maid tells me clean up is a breeze, litrealy she just blows the dust off them. the radiators were all American Radiator company Corto models from 1920, whichif I am not mistaken the year after they were introduced.

Look at this site under "Hot Tech Topics" for three articles entitled, "Stripping Radiators", "Painting Radiators" and "Bronzing Radiators".

Bronzing is the traditional "paint" for radiators and IMHO is by far the best thing to use on ornamental radiators.

Powder coating is the way to go if you want that top shelf look .
