I would say that that is wayyyyyyyyy plenty. I sized a system up for a 75 unit building and installed it. 350 gallon tank and 2 staged 300k btu boilers. System will run fine w/ just one of the boilers and tank storage. Just fyi. with that kind of storage I would be much happier w/ appx 500 to 750 mbh preferrably staged for redundancy on the boiler. Tim PS, make sure to use sizing charts, based on #of beds in units and # of people along w/ laundry size. This can change sizing drastically. The bldg above was mix of 1s and 2 bedrooms.

copperfin
I went to help a fellow contractor friend. He is trying to use a lochinvar copperfin water heater to heat a 400 gallon tank. I am thinking that this heater is to small. Does any one know how size this properly. The existing methode of heating is a steam coil that is inserted in the tank. they are cutting it out and installing the new water heater. Heater is 1.2 million btu, tank is aroung 400 gallonsand this is for a 75 unit apartment building. Any help would be appreciated. I would hate to get into this project to far and not have it work.0 -

all depends
Mike,
1.2M on a 400 gallon tank could be very right. Go to www.lochinvar.com and download the installation instructions. they are VERY clear. Make sure to have the correct flow and venting!

Lochinvar has water heater sizing program available for download on their website. I tried with your information, and it seems your oversized for the demand. You should try it yourself.
