Correct me if I am wrong, but doesn't Bamboo have a problem with bleaching out in strong sunlight?

Hardwood floors (engineered) -radiant application.
Up here in Anchorage Alaska we have removed our berber carpet (after about 4 or 5 yrs) and are ready to try engineered hardwood floors. It is a sunroom it gets east and southern sun. The room is approx 500 sq feet. The floor will be a floating floor. Subfloor is gypcrete with plastic radiant tubes.
We have vendors who sell Kahrs and Upofloor engineered hardwood floating floors. Both are snap together style- no glue. Both are about the same price (Kahrs is 1$ more per sq ft.) Both are approx 5/8 in thick
Please--- is anyone familiar with either--- Has anyone a preference?
Alsohow about bamboo-- does it work well over radiant floors?
Thanks very much-- Rick

I have no experience with any of these engineered floors over radiant but do know that some of the initial engineering tests for Thermofin (a heavy extruded aluminum conduction plate) were conducted with bamboo flooring and am almost positive that the owner of the Thermofin company has made significant use of such in radiant floor installations.0 -
yes to bamboo
it provides a very tough floor surface. I have had two customers install it over radiant.
www.totallybamboo.com now has 2" x 30" bamboo stock for counter tops. Harder than maple and more stable.
Check out www.launstein.com for some more choices and excellent radiant experience.

re:engineered flooring
Our home has Kahrs engineered over radiant. Quality control of Kahrs is excellent. Every board was perfect. Have been through a full heating season with excellent results (no expansion/contraction problems)and great heat transfer.0 -
Launstein Hardwood Floors
I just found this company in my search for floating engineered hardwood floors to be used over a radiant gypcrete subfloor-- Launstein Hardwood Floors
Please take a look-- http://www.launstein.com/flooring/floating-floor.html
The price is the same for any of the listed widths. (I find this remarkable).
I like the idea that it is one strip per plank. That way, if any shrinkage does occur, it will look more like a traditional tongue/groove floor.
Has anyone experience with this product?
Thanks very much---- Rick
