Steel pigtails corrode closed; brass PTs sediment up. The half-inch dropped instrument manifolds WM recommends can also be installed with plugs on the ends so that from time to time a wire or small brush can be run the length of the manifold. Works great! And no more clogged pigtails.

pig tails
Hooking up a Weil McLain #80 steam. In the manual diagram the pressure controls and the gage are hooked up on a 1/2 inch pipe turned down with no pig tails. Is this a new way to hook it up? thanks0 -

it`s not really new, WM has suggested this for years. Is one way better than the other?, well that`s a matter of personal preference,, as long as live steam can`t get to the controls, their method of "trapping" is fine.
