    ma pipefitters license

    If you have a plumbers lic in ma. can they grandfather you a pipefitters lic. We are starting to look at boiler projects that are pushing 1 million btus and dont want to get in trouble. If you have your oil license in ma. Does that allow you to work on oil boilers 1 million and up.
    Does an hvac license help with the mix? i dont want to start any projects and get in trouble.

    Hi Pete,

    The grandfathering of Pipefitters licenses ended years ago and you now have to take the exam.

    I had mine for a long time and gave it up. I do not know any of the steps required to now get one.

    Funny you should ask...

    I am sitting for this test in 6 days. These days you will not get there without following the requirements to the letter... I came from another state and had to go before the license bureau and grovel before they accepted me. I was licensed for gasfitting and boiler engineer, there was no comparable license to the MA pipefitter where I come from. Your best bet may be to hire someone with the license...
