There's a bunch of recent post's...try a search and see if you can find the answer you're looking for.

But, before you do...define efficient.

There's effeciency of combustion...while the unit is actually running...

There's efficiency regarding the cost to heat a given amount of water for you to use.

There's efficiency, or actually, economy of operation which will include maintenance and parts and longevity of the equipment.

There's economy of installation which is asking which is cheaper to install.

All four of these are different numbers and should be compared for either choice. In other words, are looking to save money on the install, the day to day operation, the useful life of the equipment, or are you wanting to save the environment what ever the personal cost.

Also remember that not all on-demand units are created equal.

indirect vs. on-demand domestic hot water

Which is more efficient, using an indirect hot water tank or an on-demand water heater? The system will be natural gas, and our climate requires the boiler on for space heat about half the year.
