1- Buy better blades
2- Cut in the threads, it's the thinnest part of the pipe
3- If the fittings are cast iron, a big hammer is a lot
more fun and gets a lot more of the frustration out.

What is the best way to cut out black piping on a steam boiler system? This is for a four unit bldg. Tried a sawzall
on the smaller diameter pipes...ran out of blades!!!
