the second time. That and the CEOs' golden parachutes.
We do dual-fuel too- but ours run both oil and gas.

I am puzzled
by our area Utilty costs. The price of electricity around Wash DC has gone up several times while the price of Nat gas has remained stable. Since we get our electricity from coal I can only think that transporting the coal is more expesive but electricity prices have doubled and our eyes are spinning in their orbits. Nat gas I expected to go up since it is a finite fossel fuel. It has not. I did an comparision on some op cost software and it is now equal operating costs to run a heat pump as compared to a 90% nat gas furnace or boiler. I used to be able to give my customers a hedge against operating costs by installing a dual fuel system. At the moment it will not help. What are the projections for Utility prices? Does anyone know? Caps...
... the caps on the electricity prices may have expired, but they still might be in place for your natural gas. And I would not assume that the costs to the local gas-fired peaker power stations falls into the same pattern as those paid by home owners.
Plus, if your local utility is forced to break out what the source of all the costs are you end up paying, T&D is the vast majority in my neck of the woods. Generation is peanuts by comparison."Let me control you"

Utility cost
Without looking it up and calculatin the exact value I believe (from memory) that coal prices are at about 1.25 to 2 cents per KWHr depending on where you are in the US and the type of coal being used.
The rest of the KWHr rate is other factors. Many of those other factors have been changing.

Cost was
about 7 cents per KW. Now they are about 14. I was thinking mayby the extra costs are to upgrade infrastructure. (or maybe upgrading the stockholders pockets.) :O WW

Hey WW
Are you referring to Pepco, Dominion Power, Allegheny? Pepco rates went up a lot last year in Md.,Dominion rates in Va.due to go up around 5% as of 7-1, Allegheny's rates (west of Blue Ridge Mts.) 16%!!. dunno where you are at in the D.C. area, but remember...Dominion/Allegheny needs all of that money to build the new 138 kv line that will pass near my house feeding No. Va.!!!0 -
Pepco
has raised their rates twice in the last year in MD, and are about 14 cent per KW. BG & E have raised their rates too, but I dont know to wehat level. Thankfully I am just over the line and use Allegheny for my house. They are locked into their rates with the state of MD until July 08. We are currently paying 07 cents per KW and the dual fuel really pays off at that rate. However depending on our rate increase next year it may not be a good thing to recommend. WW
