sounds like tank is history did it have an st domestic expansion tank

    amtrol heatmaker leaking , foam rubber insulation wet, cannot find a leak at any of the connections. can this tank be saved?

    I assume that there is water leaking from gasket and/or the bolts what the coil bolts into the tank? If that is the case you can feel the steel shell of the tank up around the crown to see if it is hot. If so the internal bottle has failed and the tank needs to be replaced.

    How old is this tank? If the tank is not that old there could be other reason's that this bottle failed early. We normally see life spans on the bottle of 14-24 years with normal ussage

    no DHW expansion tank, someleak from vent of DCA back flow preventer, unit is 80 gallon boilermate
