So I just need to toss my cookies regularly and everything should be ok. What a relief! ;)
I'll try it out and see what happens. Thanks!

This board...
Seems to mix up it's participants as they post. Usually it's me posting as some other random person and then having to go back and change it but now I just discovered a post I didn't make with my ID and email attached to it. Why?0 -

it did \"MPF\" to me the other night...
it's a real problem lately
as long as you check your author and email when you do your first post - i will hold it for the rest of the session - i think the forum has it's cookie database screwed up
- ps this is especially bad with non ie6 based browsers, and also if you work from multiple machines

Bill or George,,,
anything but Sue...
Long as we know it's happening and it's not just me. Sometimes I catch it and sometimes I don't.
Did anybody tick off the computer gods around here lately? Maybe they need a sacrificial offering or something. Any volunteers?0 -

Here's what happens.
When you post on the Wall, the sofware assigns you a cookie and places it on your PC. This is so that you can hold your bookmarks and keep your name and e-mail address in place and not have to type it again each time you post.
If someone e-mails you a link to a Wall post and you open it, their cookie rides along with it, and your PC is now no longer sure who's who. A similar thing happens when someone posts a link here on the Wall to an older post. Their PC has a cookie for that older post, which rides along on the link. Anyone in that thread then gets the other person's cookie.
You can clear all the old cookies by deleting from your PC the forums.invision.net cookie. This will also remove your bookmarks, however, so it's up to you.

I tossed ALL my cookies. I never knew I had so many! I see what happens, I had to reenter my ID and email. No biggie.0 -
Tossin' Cookies
I toss my cookies all the time. I try not to toss my "invision" cookies because I'll lose my "dotted" topics. Whenever I want to reply to a post, invariably my computer thinks I'm someone else. I just check who I am, (no small feat) and adjust if necessary.
To note: Lately I have been someone else more frequently.0
