I want to add a kickspace heater in a kitchen. I have never seen this with steam. Its a 5psi one pipe steam system in San Fransisco.

Five PSI? One Pipe Steam?
That is why San Francisco has those hills- to get enough "A" dimension for that kind of steam system. Drop that pressure and the cable cars will have an easier time of it...
I have never seen it with one-pipe steam either. The only way you could realistically set it up is by using a water seal trap (making the KSH a two-pipe device essentially). But here is my real concern: Low mass if the rest of the radiation is cast iron. Heat will simply not be available during an off-cycle.
Have you considered steel ceiling coils? Is there not room for even a small CI radiator? What is the room heat loss?0 -
Dont know the loss
but yes Talked to the contractor about a narrow cast rad. and tucking it into a corner. I am not familiar with the steel ceiling coils though.0 -
Ceiling Coils
By those I meant pipe coils. May be too industrial a look for them though!
