Ferguson Supports the Yellow Ribbon Fund

(NEWPORT NEWS, Va.) — Ferguson will present their donation of $20,000 to support the Yellow Ribbon Fund on May 16 at a special ceremony during the Washington Nationals game at RFK Stadium. The Yellow Ribbon Fund is a non-profit organization whose mission is to reunite wounded soldiers recovering at Walter Reed hospital with their families and to integrate those individuals back into the community.

Ferguson is also working closely with the Yellow Ribbon Fund to help integrate wounded soldiers back into the workplace by providing internship programs within their local branches. During their time at Walter Reed, soldiers will have an opportunity to get back into the workforce and cut down on their idle time at the hospital. Ferguson welcomes their first group of interns later this month, and with over 1,400 locations in the United States, they look forward to providing transfer opportunities to the soldiers once they return home.

“Ferguson believes strongly in giving back to the communities in which we do business,” said Ferguson President and CEO John Stegeman. “As a company operating in Hampton Roads, an area heavily populated by members of the military community and their families, we support our friends and neighbors during their time of healing, and we are proud to contribute to a fund designed to alleviate some of the burden felt during their time of recovery.”

Created in early 2005 to assist our injured service members and their families, the Yellow Ribbon Fund raises money to help reunite soldiers with their families during their recovery at Walter Reed Army Medical Center and the National Naval Medical Center in Bethesda, MD. Their efforts go toward funding for rental cars, hotel rooms, taxi rides and apartment leases and other services to help ease the burden of military families with injured soldiers.
