    Argueably

one of the most prolific writers of Rock and Roll music. Townsend has written more music than just about anyone. Writting over 100 songs for eleven Who albums, Townsends has solo albums and has writtin for other artist. Starting on 1964 with John Entwistle he is still playing.

The Who is considered by many to be one of the best live shows. They played Woodstock, Live Aid, Live Eight, concert for 9-11 and many others.

I know Hunts not a fan but for me, One of the best Rock and Roll bands evah !!

    I like alot

of his stuff also,,too many to single a particular one out. I found it "hilarious" how the band used to wreck everything on the stage!

I like The Who Scott....Entwistle was one of the Greats

But I still won't "buy" that Ol' Pete was "doing research" on child abuse and sexual assault when he was busted with reams of Kiddie Porn on his hard-drive .a few years back. I 'll never look or hear his music the same. He crossed THAT line for me. I think he got a get-outta-jail-free card because of who he is and he could afford the best lawyers. Apparently, Mark Bolan from T-Rex was in to the same sick smut. What a shame. Mad Dog

    da WHO

They ROCK always have always will saw them at great Woods right after big john died, missed him but it was still a great show. Went and saw Tommy the musical at the Wang. most fun i've ever had at the theater. What was really cool was seeing all the high school and University kids there eating it up. Shows like CSI have introduced a whole nother generation of the music from that era. Same with sports . i went to a high School game and they where playing "We Will Rock You", "rocket man", "Barbra o'rielly" etc. the kids loved it. Kind of funny but they wheren't playing any rap or other new stuff except maybe GreenDay who actually I think isn't half bad.

    As an alternative...

I know you like the Who...when you feel like taking it down a notch...

Just got the new Ry Cooder CD..."Call me Buddy" He gets back to roots with Pete and Mike Seeger, Flaco Jiminez and the usual cast of outrageous sidemen.

It's an allegory to union songs and standing up to "The Boss"

Most unusual, and he's certainly at the top of his carrer after Buena Vista Social Club.

    Matt,

I'm not so sure about that one either, BUT..... I would NEVER discount his ability to play.

Finest kind to us who play by ear. Everything can be broken down to basic chords...and easily figured.

A rock GOD to be sure. If anyone doubts....just get yourselves a copy of "The Kids Are Alright".(video) John Entwistle kept the "mayhem" in check...and was possibly the best bass player in rock-N-roll.The "vingnette" of him shooting gold albums is priceless!) PULL! Chris

    One of my favorites

was Quadraphenia. Love Reign Oer Me, is one of the best sing along songs for times when you're hanging on a friend after drinking 30 beers. :Z Saw them back in the 70's. They had one of the first lazer light shows. Good Stuff. WW

    I looked into Matt

and what I read said they Did'nt find reams of kiddie porn on his hard drive. Townsend donates alot of his time to different causes one of which is child abuse. Scotalnd Yard found nothing and gave him a slap on the hand. If it is true I'm in your camp, but that was'nt what I read.

    I can't imagine a worse crime.

    I also

saw Tommy at the Theater by the Sea in Portsmouth-a great city and I stayed in the room Dan did (that's my story and I'm yada, yada, yada).

    Excellent music.

As for Townsends problem, I followed it and really don't believe he would have gotten off if they had a case. At this point, I'm in the I doubt it but camp.

Great music, but just beware if you go out drinking with these boys: they never carry any cash (Mick doesn't even have pockets in his pants). I always get stuck with the tab. Groupiism has it's price

Mark's distaste for the Who is well documented but one of the funniest things he ever said to me was "the only unfortunate thing about Jim Morrison's death, was that I didn't have something to do with it"

    Any Frank Marino fans?

    meet the new boss...

I love " The Ox "....and Mahogany Rush , Rick.

And I still say that Bill Sheehan is the only temp / perm replacement to Entwhistle.

    But

Townshend didn't die before he got old, as he hoped he would.

Like O.J....when they wanted to take away his Heisman

I don't believe in revisionist history. Townsend has talent can't take that away...also can't think of anything else when I hear him. Mad Dog

    We can't be seen together...

The two most talented members of the Who are gone, so I don't see much excitement over the leftovers or what they're putting out now. The first time I heard "Rough Boys" by Townsend, years ago - I felt something was wrong, there. But why do we only hear about the men that download sicko porn getting busted - what about the ones who made it accessible, in the first place? And what type of countries welcome freaks like Gary Glitter and M.J., knowing what they are coming there for???

    Wow Lurckin

I agree that all four members were talented but with out Townsend writting all the music they would be just four good musicians.

You know that Rough Boys was written as a jab at the Sex Pistols right ?

Now about Freaks, I could'nt agree more. Manson is just sad.
