Went through an Audit today

As long as you are honest, there is no need to be worried. My accountant takes care of everything, and he states I you are audited, We will do the work not me. Nice to know....:-) Keeping track of all the stuff is the difficult part.

Yup, we have been in business for less than two years and we drew a random audit from the State Department of Revenue.

I do all of our state taxes so naturally I was nervous. It's very intimidating!

After all was said and done the state wrote me a check for $.47. I got a kick out of that!

Isn't being in business great? (sarcasm)

My feeling is that

if you are not close to auditing you or the accountant are not being creative enough.

Back in '85 I was running a one man shop. The IRS at that time had a lottery, if your SS# got pulled, they did a complete audit. My accountant basically said, good luck. She spent 2 days in my house going through every scrap of paper for the entire audit year. I spent evenings finding paper for her to go through the next day. In the end, I owed about $800 because she had to find something. Called my accountant and he just said "Pay her and get her out of there." The IRS has quit that practice, but that was a real bad one.

While I want to agree, my annual rubber glove exam is still unpleasant even though I am healthy... They are one of the few federal agencies who have the tax code handy but not the Constitution, IMHO.. Good Luck!

made-out OK Josh,,,I have seen on TV the US-IRS system can be a "nightmare" if they suspect anyone of "pulling something"!(maybe I should`nt have said that!)LOL.
