Yes, it's condensing...the only other oil fired condensing boiler I know of in NA is the Peerless Pinacle.

Depends, I think...

... the Vitoplus has a two-stage burner but the Vitolaplus does not, so I guess it would depend on what they import.

One advantage I can tell between the VitoFlame 300 found on the VitolaPlus vs. the VitoFlame 100 on the US Vitola is the ability to do sealed combustion. That is one feature I would have really liked.

Some day, we will have access to modulating oil burners in this country... something the Vitotronic is ready for, but which it cannot exploit just yet.

I pursued this

with Richard Trethewey.( If you ever get a chance chat with him. Very passionate and knowledeable!!) He told me not now because of the high sulpher content of the oil. This boiler will run on 500 ppm sulfur oil with a three way valve so that it condenses only in the flue.

With 50 ppm oil the boiler can be adjusted to condense in the heat exchanger. I spoke at length last winter with Viessman UK


SO2 is the big concern. Viessman I understand does not put anything out there unless they are 100% confident it will be successful.

500 ppm oil is readily available .

I want one!!!!!!

I hope this comes to the US soon. I saw this stuff in Germany recently. They have smaller sizes using a MatriX-compact burner. 9 to 66 kw.

Larger models 29 to 142.

Vito 100 update

Remember the rollout for the Vito 200? It was coming out in two months........for about a year and a half.

Same thing is happening with the 100. Don't look for it until next spring at best. Least that's what I heard.
