Is there a standard for
the maximum oxygen permeation rate for rubber, PEX or plastic tubing? I have read that the max recommendation is 0.1mg/l/day. But I believe this was a European standard back in the day when PEX was new to the US.0 -
German standard DIN 4726 established the maximum O2 permeation rate you mention. It's certainly still referenced in both engineering specifications and manufacturer's literature. Many manufacturers claim permeation rates many times below this level.
American standards of ASTM F876 and ASTM F877 cover PEX. The ASTM standards do not [appear] to address oxygen diffusion, but I don't have access to the actual ASTM.
All US contract engineering specs I found mention both the DIN and the ASTM.0
