Gascom software & interface module for Prestige?
Does anyone know if and when Triangle Tube will be using the Gascom software and the interface module for laptop parameter setups? It's available for the WM Ultras and considering they both use the MCBA control module, and the default perimeters are very close for both boilers, I thought it might be a possibility in the near future for the Prestiges. Anyone have any input about the use of these items, good or bad with the Ultras? Thanks in advance!

Any thing to help troubleshoot faster and dial it it would be cool. Not that I've had any problems with the tube but it would be nice0 -
Yeah it would be pretty cool. To reconfigure the max RPM, for the burner, to closer match needed btuh's,and etc. I wonder if Guy from Triangle Tube is going to chime in about this at all. Maybe he can give us some insight for future "Prestige" advancements.0 -

But you can do all that right now. The only plus to me would be the real time monitoring.
All boilers should have a real time monitoring port as a standard feature - a USB connection. That could even allow programmed t-stats that could use USB sensors.0 -
Ease of use
Uni,
Yes I realize that, by flipping through the parameter menu. It would be nice to have the gascom display on the laptop for scrolling through the parameters a little quicker, and easier. Also, like you said for real time monitoring. The WM Ultra control literature endorses the changing of some parameters in the menu such as changing the burner rpm's according to DHW load & CH (heating) mode, but if you read the Prestige control literature, there are a lot of the same parameters that Triangle Tube doesn't want you to change. My main concern would be to re-size mine a little closer to my actual heat loss, but to keep the same btuh input for my DHW needs. Thanks for the response!

GasCom
And chime I will!
We will EVENTUALLY have the laptop connection for the MCBA board, but there are some issues that we want to avoid:
Changing the fan speeds in the field, for example, is not something that should be done. It can unleash all sorts of liability issues should something go wrong. The beauty of modulation is that the BTU rate will match the load correctly providing that the system was set up correctly. If someone were to try and compensate for an INCORRECTLY designed system by changing the paramaters of the MCBA, unsafe conditions could arise.
I am all for real time monitoring of the board, and for downloading the history, and THAT's what I see the laptop connection headed toward.
It was mentioned that someone else has similar paramaters on their MCBA board. PLEASE don't use their board on the Prestige, or vice versa: The differences that you don't see may cause irrepairable damage.

changing parameters
Guy,
I was just stating the parameters were similiar. I wasn't planning on using them. The boiler in reference is the one at my house, that I've already purchased, and will install.
This is just a general question, concernig the Prestige, that's all. I'm sorry if I worded that incorrectly,is was more theoretic than actual, my total load for my house is like 60mbtuh @ -8F. Thanks for the input!

MCBA Control module
How many years has the MCBA been in the field?

Here or in Europe?
I think W-M first introduced MCBA-equipped Ultras around November 2002. I'm not sure how long GasModul/Honeywell had the MCBA out in Europe before then.0 -
My guess...
My guess would be mid to late 90's. This kind of information seems almost as hard to find as the access code to OEM menu. ;-)
Perhaps Bill at Honeywell might know when it first came out?
I think GasModul designed it before Honeywell Europe bought them out but that's just speculation. I don't think ACV (T-T's parent) developed the Prestige until 2001/2002 so that's about the earliest that I know for sure it was being used. I'm not sure what boilers it may have been on prior to that. It's hard to tell on the European scene because there are so many more manufacturers.0
