Informal poll
Over the top or under the back?
Mine was under the back until I met my wife and she converted me to over the top. Keep it clean, no pun intended.0 -
Over the top...
Just like my paper towels.
My M.I.L. does it the opposite, and it drives me nuts. I asked her why she does it backwards, and she said she does it right, and that I am doing it wrong...
Funny how little things like that can grate your nerves :-)
So, whats the significance of your poll? WHo's righ and who's wrong?
ME0 -
Definitely over the top
Pet peeve to see it from under. LOL.. ..Ruthe0 -
Do your
Ears hang low?
Do they wobble to and fro?
Can you tie them in a knot?
Can you tie them in a bow?
Can you throw them o'er your shoulder
like a continental soldier?
Do your ears hang low?

Ann Landers
I remember an ongoing debate about that in her column years ago.Personly, I stand it up on the previous empty roll

If you check the print , its designed for over the top .. My reasoning when My Wife and I debate over this issue Besides who wants to fish for the end at the need of the moment0 -
Over the top.....
....but my wife does it backwards. I think she does it just to irritate me. She's evil that way.
Her standard line: "How many men does it take to change a roll of toilet paper? No one knows! It's never happened yet!!!!"0 -
Over the top, BUT..
If you have a playful cat in the house, over the top makes it easy for them to unroll the whole thing.
But, I firmly believe that each time the roll is used, the loose end should be folded into a point. I hate loose ends.
That's the way we do it in the office. At least I keep threatening them with termination if they don't.0 -
I used to serve on a ship where the Captain had heard somewhere that putting the paper "backwards" as you all describe it cut down on paper usage because when it's over the top I guess you tend to pull more off the roll, so HE insisted that all shipboard rolls be put on "backwards" and your head would fail Captain's inspection if they weren't. Me personally, before I remarried I was a free ranger but that doesn't go over so well with the new wife so I put it on whichever way it happens to go on that time. I like surprises.0 -
That Subject with Ann Landers
had more mail than any other, by a mile.
Reminds me:
Q. "How many men does it take to change a roll of toilet paper?"
A. No one knows. It's never happened.
Best thing I ever did at my Susan's was to replace the double-end spindle type with the "L" shaped holder. Just slide on a new roll.
With three girls in the house (including "Melissa the 6 year old half-a-roll clogger"), I say, buy stock in Kimberly-Clarke. I will have to put Melissa in touch with Sheryl Crow soon.0 -
simply check you hand movements...
when sitting down and when standing up,
when sitting down it is less, if the paper unrolls toward the wall, and when standing up it's is less if the paper unrolls outward
just look at the motion you do when you tare it off, it is usually a push or pull, fore or aft, sideways in relation to the roll and the drag created on the spools side holds it in place facilitation the tare off,
when you are sitting the your arm will pivot at the shoulder and give you easy for and aft movement - over the top it's to far to push and too crowding to pull, the reverse of course is true if you are standing up

leaving nothing to chance...
I built this double roll holder for the shop.
Pretty clear to see which the gals prefer
Now, about leaving the seat down when they exit....

I seriously prefer over the top. On another note, a prison here in Kansas is limiting the number of rolls per month an inmate is allowed. That will make it a high value prison commodity like cigarettes.0 -
Maybe you've heard that Cheryl Crow has announced that as an industrious people we should all be able to get by on one square per "visit". Never shake her hand...0 -
Household peace
My sulute to Hot Rod. He got this one right.
If you want peace in your household.... Install two toilet paper holders (or a double roll holder) per toilet.
On another front you will probably need two or more tubes of toothpaste (one for squezing from the middle, and one from the end).
Simple solutions to problems that people seem to often let disrupt their life...
One of the biggest problems in the world -- is accepting that other people are different, have different beliefs and values, and are still good people.

once again -
you are truly ingenious. But does it matter if the roll is stored in the plastic wrap it comes in - resting gently on the floor beside the loo?0 -
What about twist ties on the bread?
Twist right or left??? And in a hurry do you "Quick Spin and Fold"....:-)

cigarette paper
when Jerry was in Korea he said they used 1 piece of cigarette paper ... Ruthe0 -
I am Sorry ...
Some say that I am too easy going but not this time ..
This the Stupidest Thread I have ever read.
Who the H*LL cares which way the paper hangs, I mean really do you people actually look at this stuff ??
As long as it tears off and I get clean I don't care if its top, bottom or straight out of the wall.
As far as Shery Crow is concerned ... look at the size of the girl. She probably drops like a rabbit and dosn't need to much clean up.
Now look where we've gone .....

one cigarette paper...
Now THAT'S a screamer!
On another note we do in fact have two tubes of toothpaste so I can have my neatly squeezed from the end tube and the cretins around here can squeeze theirs all in the middle to their little heart's content. LOL...0 -
Think outside the square .

Toilet paper? Whats toiletpaper?0 -
Didn't matter till...
one day I'm outside the bathroom door and one of the kids is in there slamming the toilet paper roll, which was in the over-the-top position, to roll off the paper... seemed that it was some kind of fun game to see how much paper he could get to roll off with each swipe....like man i got to hit theat sucker harder, I only got 50 sheets to lay on the floor that time....:)
SO..........now the paper goes on down the back or backwards.... puts an end to the games and a roll lasts for more than a few hours....Oh, and did I mention that the toilet plunger hasn't had to be used since....I wonder why?????

next poll
So, do I start another poll on which way the slats on the mini blinds go?
This is one of life's mysteries where you could ask 10,000 men if they cared and none would as long as there was paper there and it wasn't like waxed paper or sandpaper.
For the record, top feed because it keeps my backside from gettng raw..........from being chewed out by my wife!
I would love to see someone make a Tp roller with a one way cam lock so it only rolls as a bottom feed but load it top and watch the women go nuts!
BTW, according to Cheryl Crow, you only get one sheet per uh, event to save the ecology. One local radio station in Philly had listeners hang toiler paper out their car windows on their commute to work. Lots of white flags going down the Blue Route! I wonder how many sheets Al Gore uses per day. On second thought, I don't wanna know.0 -
Only John Hall

Another use for a pump flange.
How about off the side? Cats don't like it as much ;~)
