There's nothing wrong with Buderus or Triangle Tube whatsoever. But the quality of Viessmann is unmatched,if money is an issue look into the new Vitodens 100. Not all the features but most importantly it has the same HX as the 200.You can add a Tekmar and have a real nice setup at a bargain price.

    and -

unless certifications have changed recently - the Viessmann is a boiler due to its ASME stamp while the Buderus is considered a heater. Significant distinction IMO.

    Buderus GB142

The Buderus GB142 Mod/Con Got it's ASME stamp 07/06. They started shipping units with the stamp in August of 2006.

Problem with the Vitodens 100. What good does a modulating and condensing boiler do if you can't reset the set-point? I would much rather have a Buderus for the same price with outdoor reset, and preferably indoor.

    Triangle tube

I have been running my 110 for a couple weeks now and love the control and price. My only nit pick on initial quality was some of the chasis screws were over tightened and striped and the wiring harness needed a few more zip ties to clean it up a bit. Other than that no complaints & simple to set up. Another thing I love about TT is the arsonal of literature that is available for it. Being a technically incliened home owner viessman seems a bit more restrictive with thier info, at least that was my impression.

    only in Canada - EH!

After being corrected & being the curious sort - I looked up the CRN registration number for the GB 142. This model does not enjoy its Canadian boiler cert, its good to go in NY, Mass and other states - so why not Canada, EH??

One major improvement could be -

Would be adding a flow meter of some kind. I am in the middle of a problem with 2 PS 250 boilers going off on E25 - supply temp rising too fast. That would be an indication of being air bound or low flow rate.

I added boiler drains to the top of the boiler, purged into buckets and pumped away with my pony pump - no air. Thorougly purged other piping. Still same error code. Pulled circs out, removed checks - the looked ok but left them out, confirmed free spinning impeller. Put pumps back in. Still same problem. After an extensive amount of time, and some more greying hair, discovered the pumps were drawing approx 1/3rd of the rated amperage. I'm having my inventory checked tomorrow to see I got 230V pumps labeled as 120V. Only thing I can think of.

If there was a electronic flow meter, like you find on the wall hung water heaters, I could have seen there was a pump problem early on and saved a whole lot of time and aggrevation.

    From what I've seen

The 100 is far below the price of the GB, Knight, Prestige and even the less than the Munchkin. You can add a Tekmar ODR/DHW control and still be in the ball park with any of those boilers. It's a rather interesting piece of equipment.
