GAMA and all these bogus "scientific" studies they referrence claim that you will IMPROVE indoor air quality by using one of these unvented poison emitters in your home.
They claim that the "water" vapor released raises the humidity and leads to healthier indoor air quality.
Not.

GAMA &\"Ensuring Safety....\"
Just opened the GAMAzine Magazine that came with this month's P&M Magazine. The GAMA Chairman says this issue is all about "Safety First in Your Customer's Home".
And then thay have an entire article titled "They're Vent-Free Products-And Safe".
I'm sorry. I just can't get behind ANY vent-free gas appliances. I don't care what their "studies" say about their safety.
I'm disappointed in GAMA.

it is worth mentioning
that for the most part many people do not belive in magic boxes where you put something in and get something back out that is refined and has magically removed all poison and garbage during the processes.0 -
In many areas
unvented heaters like that are not just a lousy idea- they are ILLEGAL. Check your Code to see what it says. If we can find enough such places, we can flood GAMA with letters, e-mails, etc.
Never underestimate the power of The Wall.

Tim do you have
gas in your own home? If so do you have a gas cooking range? If so does it have a vent? If not then it is actually more dangerous than a vent free space heater. Vent free units are required to have a pilot system ODS (Oxygen Depletion Safety) that if the level of O2 gets below 18% they will shut off. Many others are equipped with a quick shut off thermocouple system which drops out if the flame is pulled away by poor combustion in 30 seconds. ANSI standard on most thermocouples is 3 minutes by the way.
I personally would not have one in my home and do not install them. I will tell you this they are here to stay and it will take more than the power of the "Wall" to get rid of them. Why you say, very simple they burn a lot of fuel and are not very efficient in the long run. Some will argue here that they are 100% efficient because all the heat stays in the room. Well the instructions state that when operating them you must leave a window open - DUH!!! So the gas industry and GAMA will support them as they are money makers.0
