While it lasts
Gotta make all they can while the Dino juice lasts. We are on the backside of the production curve thus far.
Those record profits will be future revenue for R&D before.
A. The last drop is pumped.
B. To find the last drop to pump.
C. When the last drop is pumped what will we do now.
You don't believe when there is no more oil, these companies will just fall off the face of the planet do you? They see the end is comming, and they are planning for it. This should be a warning shot.

Records
The thing the media doesn't harp on is the record taxes collected on gas. The feds made more last Fall than the big, bad oil co's. Then they want to "windfall tax" them, which is even more money to blow on pork.

Don't forget state taxes. I don't have a problem with that that is how things get done around states, and this country. Its a fair tax you use fuel you pay the tax period.
"The feds made more last Fall than the big, bad oil co's".
They get a percentage so this would stand to reason, one hand washes the other again.
Then they want

Yup pork is always in the equation. I do bridge construction. So that tax is also my bresd ,and butter.

Not trying to be sarcastic with my post at all but the fact is that Exxon made 10 plus BILLION in one quarter NET profit. Just sorry idid not buy the stock when they were sucking wind not so long ago.

In my state at least gasoline is taxed by the gallon. No "windfall" when the price rises...0 -
By the gallon
Road tax is by the gallon, sales tax is a percentage.
Sooo much is wasted by the gov't that I believe if they spent it like it was their own, they'd need only 1/2. JMO.

Same here in Ill. This is where all the dollars are generated to be matched by the Feds. for road construction funds.

T Tax ?
Taxation without representation ? sound familier?0 -
paris hilton!
Ah, the feds and taxes, are there any grown ups left in government?
Paris Hilton got a $62 million tax cut last night, at 1:30 am.
Well, the house voted for it anyway.. the senate (thankfully) will likely vote no.
And it was bundled in with a modest rise in the minimum wage, so it would look nice to working stiffs.
Cute, no?

nad think about this
That is only ONE companies profits..multiply that by the number of campanies at say even 50% of Exxon, and you can say that BIG OIL=BIG PROFITS again..
like another poster said...and they think we charge too much..
My new slogan might be
"Willing to install furnace if you fill my tank"
Mitch0 -
Price Breakdown
We are paying roughly $1000.00/Month in fuel for our service trucks. Installers average about 450.00 due to the fact they are on jobs for a set duration. The service end KILLS...... As usual we get the complaints of how hi our prices are........

Exxon's last quarter
profits, in the U. S., were $1.6 billion. The rest was made elsewhere. Add more taxes and more regulations, and they just might reposition themselves to make it all elsewhere. Who loses then?0 -
yeah but
They are claiming they dont make much profit even at $3/gal, its the cost of oil...hey..if they're only doing their job, then $5 or 6 /gal should be ok too right?
Our utilities here are regulated..they can make a profit, but there is a cap, any more and its rebated to the consumer, and it is fair and generous..the same should be for fuels0 -
Do you want a cap on how much YOU can earn?

Kens right, No one wants to pay the prevailing price for a commodity they "NEED" on a daily bases. Is it right? "How much is to much"?
Would You like it if someone questioned your wage scale? The thought of that pisses me off.
We Americans are "SPOILED" period paying the fuel prices we have been for years. Go to Canada, Europe. This will be what it takes to get everyone energy conscious "some day".
