Pressure testing fuel gas lines

In pressure testing fuel gas (propane) lines that have been disconected from the control valves & regulator should I try to pressureize the unions or just remove them & cap the line?
Also, are unions allowed inside the cabinet? It's been a while since Ive done this but I seem to remember that they arn't. What pressure do they need to hold for how long?
I was planning to test w/nitrogen.
Thanks
