Like Chinese food?
Try Suzies, at 163 Bleeker St.
That puts you right in Greenwich Village. THAT's the city!
Wander around there, after. Just North of there a couple blocks is Washington Square park. There's ALWAYS something going on there, like jugglers on the street, acrobats, jazz bands, you name it. All outdoors, in the park.
The shops around there are great. It's comfortable.
There's ALL kinds of restaurants in that area. I just like Suzies ( again and again).

Where at near Albany?
I'm just south of Albany and Mark and Darin are north.
I don't know of any seminars, but if you're near Hyde Park in Dutchess County
check out the Vanderbilt Mansion, I've been meaning to go there myself, and check out their heating system. FDR's place is a block away also.

Dan's Artifacts
Dan's artifacts are presently at Suffolk County Community College in Brentwood, NY.
As soon as we get the display cases in, all of the cool (or hot) stuff will once again be on display.

I live in the NY metro area...very northeastern NJ, about 10 miles from NYC. (Yes, NJ is part of the metro area)
Visiting NYC depends on what you like to do. There are countless options available. Decide what you like and plan around that. A pitfall is to not have a rough idea of what you want to do becasue you may land up treking around the city aimlessly which is time consuming and costly. That is not to say just taking in the street life and surroundings isnt 'something to do' but if you want to make your head butts count (eg you dont forsee returning any time soon), have a rough idea of what you want to see.
Also keep in mind you have to account for schedules of different facilities, show times, coordinating mass transit schedules, etc. NYC is almost notorious for being remarkably uncooperative at the worst times. The city giveth and the city taketh ). Goodluck and enjoy the visit.0 -
That's great I'll have to fit some of these places into my work schedule. (wish I were on vacation!) I will definatly check out that mansion, and FDR's place.

Don't miss Jone's Beach
One of my favorite places on the planet.
Robert Moses Field 2, left side.
Its probably just like some of the California beaches, but the water is on the wrong side.

NJ is Open Again!
But grab your ankles if you want to buy something...the extortion worked and they have a 7% sales tax now...0 -
Mark, I am staying at a B&B just north of Albany. Mabe in the same town? Not sure have to ask the wife. I will be working in NYC on a steam ship for a few days then we are going to relax upstate.

Happy steaming holiday
There must be a bunch of historic boiler and radiator factory sites to go visit in that New York region and western Connecticut. I've been wanting to do one such pilgrimage one day; there are so many beautiful pictures of beautiful factories in the old boiler catalogues.
A good friend of mine grew up in the Catskill Mountains and he's always been harping on about our local tap water that tastes nothing like his most deliciously soft Catskill brew. If you'll be going anywhere near there, you'll please have to have a glass, on me.
Meanwhile, I have no clue whether that water there is all that good. To taste the difference, perhaps you'll have to stop in Dayton on your way.
Working on a steamship sounds real neat, Josh, I wish you and your family a pleasant vacation.
