One other thought would be to check with the individual who will install and repair it for year's to come. If it's not put in properly or maintained it won't matter who made it...

Boiler/inderect ???

Looking to upgrade from a old Repco oil boiler--
What has been the reliability on Burnham units and cost comparisions to a System 2000 EK1? With a Riello or Beckettt NX burner?
Hopefully if $$ is there a indirect water heater. What in your minds are the top three choices in regards to quality and $.

They both

have a good reputation for reliability.The Burnham will need an indirect if you want DHW.The EK uses a flat plate and tank setup.The EK has some unique features,a System Manager that purges residual heat to the house after a call for heat is satisfied,an air-tight box around burner that allows for easy use of outside air and makes it the quietest unit available if noise is an issue. To make an apples to apples comparison the Burnham will need the Tekmar control,NX or BF with outside air and an Indirect.

the most important point,you need a heat loss. It doesn't matter what boiler you get if it's not properly sized and installed
