Dan,

After a little while could you move this post to heating efficiency issues.

Is the Visionary a crackpot or valuable Inventor?

    Hi Everyone,

It is time to share my vision but first let me ask a question that I'm sure many of you are wondering about.

Is the Visionary a crackpot or valuable Inventor?

I often ask myself that same very question. I have been a Inventor part time since 1994 with very little success. I then ask myself another question.

Do I enjoy working on invention projects?

The second question is easy to answer. Yes!! I enjoy it alot. So I will keep on doing what is fun to me. I don't really care what the answer to question one is. I just keep trying and working hard and just maybe one day, more people will think I am a valuable Inventor instead of a crackpot.

Do you ever want to be the best?

I know its another question. Back in the mid 1980's I wanted to be the best race car driver. I worked hard and in 1988 I won a NERRC Road Racing Championship from the SCCA. It was an amature association and a local championship so it really didn't mean much. But for me it was the proudest day of my life, up til that moment in time!! I worked on the car myself. Countless hours were spent in the garage and basement perfecting my skills and working on the car. It was hard and challenging work but I enjoyed it a lot!!

In 2004 I won 1st place retrofit in the Radiant Panal Association's System Showcase. In 2005 I won first place Commercial and Judges Choice. I won judges choice with the highest points total in the history of the competition. In 2004 I presented my newest Invention project to the Energy Efficiency Action Group (EEAG) for the RPA. They liked the idea so much that they made me Chairman on the spot!! I was riding high in 2005. I finally acheived one of my lifes goals. I had become the best at something!! I was on top of the world!!

After 1.5 years of running the action group I ran into a huge stumbling block. I couldn't figure out a way to get the grant money I was after. Being that I was deep in debt from a huge addition project on my house, I couldn't self fund the project. So I let things drag on in the EEAG. After a year of very little activity I tried to jump start things again. I wrote a stupid e-mail. The RPA's board took action against me. First they voted to sensor me. I was told not to post any more. Then they voted to shut down the entire EEAG. I started to post the "Witch Hunt " posts. This of course upset the RPA's board even further. Now they all hate my guts. I'll never win a system showcase award again. I went from penthouse to outhouse all in a matter of months. It has been a true emotional roller coaster for me.

I risked my reputation with the RPA's board for one reason. I truelly believe in my vision. I truely believe that the Overall Heating Efficiency Project will save the world billions of dollars in fuel bills. I believe fuel conservation is more important then my reputation. I took advantage of what I knew would be a popular topic for everyone to follow. (MY removal as Chairman of the EEAG) I used the publicity to preach about Overall Heating Efficiency.

So now I got all of your attention!!
Is the Visionary a crackpot or valuable Inventor?

    My Vision.........

I want to build fast heating systems!! My most valuable tool in auto racing was the stop watch. With that tool I knew how fast my car was. Was I faster or slower then my competition? Was I faster or slower then I was last week? Last Month? Last year? I needed to know this because I needed to know if the changes to the car worked or not. Once I made a change I would time myself around the track. If the change was faster great!! I kept it. If I was slower I ripped it out and went back to the drawing board. The stop watch won me that championship in 1988.

I want to start a new catagory in heating system design. The category would be most efficient!! I want to be the best in that category!!

The first tool that I need to win is the stop watch. I want to build a stop watch for heating systems. I need a method of comparison upon which I can use to improve my abilities. The Overall Efficency Project is just that.

    My Future Vision.....

I see ten teams of contractors nation wide.(50 world wide). They perform once a year every year forever. If someone quits a team or a whole team quits then new members or teams are found. They compete in a contest. They are sponsored by Grant money from the Dept of Energy. They also may have manufacturer backing too. They design and build a heating system. They install all of the monitoring equipment. Judging Members of the OHEAG act as a third party who are not allowed to enter in any contests. The panal of judges is hand picked for honesty and voted in. The judges monitor the monitoring equipment for a period of a year and report the boiler side, system side and overall heating efficiencies.

The equipement installed is flow meters, btu meters, solar collector, wind speed monitoring device, humidity levels, inside and outside temperature sensors, electric flow meters, and maybe a few other things. All of the devices are hooked up to time and dated data loggers. Software reads all of this info and adjusts the heatloss every day to acuratly predict the yearly heatloss. Simulation software calculates the solar gain through windows and subtracts the solar gain from the Overall Heating Efficiency Measurement.

The Overall Heating Efficiency Action Group would be a non profit organization funded by Grant money,Philanthropists and fund raisers.

Information as to how is the best way to design a efficient heating system gets published yearly. This info can be used by any contractor willing to learn. The Dept of Energy pass's codes and laws to ensure the average contractors follows practices learned from the contests.

We then save the world billions of dollars every year in fuel bills. Less polution in the enviroment too!!!

If this dream cannot work now at least we can start and build the system so that our kids might be able to use and benifit from it. It might take decades.

Now I ask you again. Is the Visionary a crackpot or valuable Inventor?
