Have your pro plumber install one of our well-water grit filters. That's all they do, just remove grit. They backwash automatically, and you do not need to buy any cartridges for them. They have no effect on odors or tastes, but they remove the grit that can ruin the finish on fixtures, blast the porcelain right off a tub or sink, or plug up faucet cartridges. There are several varieties, the F74, the F76S and the MV876 auto back wash control for the F76 series. Check them out at www.customer.honeywell.com. Available from any Honeywell distributor, or use "Find A Pro" to have it professionally installed, which I highly recommend for this product.

thank you for all your suggestions.to refresh 6 years ago pipes froze and pump pumped mud for 3 days.well was 125 ft and it came back ok in a week. Last autumn well water muddy. Called well man who said we needed a new well. I asked him to go down another 50 feet which he did. It was still sandy and he pushed a new well. I and a friend pulled the pump up about 15 feet and the water is 98% ok.This is a seasonal home and was closed the winter annd when I started up there was still some scant sand in the water. I did whatyou said. ran the tank from the bottom, drained the tank and flushed. water was clear slight sediment. emptied tank and turned pump on and ofdf every fer seconds. I did get sand that way. Flushed all the faucets. It is making me crazy. Question can I disconnect the holding tank a well mate 20 gallon and run the water straight from the well. Will this show if the well is the culprit and not residue sand in tank. Shoul the well guy have cleaned the bottom of the well before drilling. Or should I just put in a filter?0
