Expansion tank

In the enclosed drawing, a five story one hundred plus apartment house, we will be replacing 22 Hydro-therm modular boilers with four Larrs boilers, and an indirect Ergomax domestic hot water heater. My question is where to place the expansion tanks? On the suction side of the system pumps? Or on the primary loop piping? Or where?

    Expansion tank location

    Hi Frank,

The attachment didn't seem to come through. Maybe one of the other Wallies can help you attach it.

If you can't get it to attach, (and actually even if you do) fax it to me at 603-335-5212 on Monday morning and Myself or Bill will take a look at it and help you locate the tank.

Location of the boilers in relation to the tank is going to be somewhat dependant upon whether or not you have our pump mounted models.

    Thanks Paul,
We've given Don Rathe Assoc. a heads up on this and five other boiler rooms with the same or close scenarios. The owners engineer is doing the heat loss and we'll be doing the design/build. We've worked with Don many times and he knows his stuff, and is great with the support.
