Residential - Dual Fuel Boilers

I have seen a few boilers with hinged doors that could hinge on either side. On at least one of them you could have two doors attached at the same time, one hinging each way, and still be able to have one closed and be secured while the other one was open. You could put a power gas burner on one door and an oil burner on the other door. Just make sure that the electrical connections are on plugs that have short cords so only the burner that is on the closed door can be plugged in.

    Residential - Dual Fuel Boilers

A while back I asked the question about whether there was any Residential Dual Fuel Boilers available . One of the responses was that a major manufacturer was working on one.

Does anyone know of any Dual Fuel Residental boilers on the Market?

An article in our local paper indicates that Natural Gas prices will be lower this coming winter while oil will still be high. It sounds like it would be a great time to switch over if the boilers were available??

    I'd look at two

boilers. The gas one could be a high efficiency mod con to further increase your fuel savings when firing NG.

As it sits now, I don't know of any residential dual fuel boilers-well, ones that can be changed by the flip of a switch.
What you CAN do is install an oil fired boiler and have a burner (Carlin EZ Gas) that will operate like the oil burner, and is easily installed. That way you could go season to season and choose a fuel.
We have a boiler called the G-8, which is our residential oil fired block with that gas burner installed.

is another- this is a 3-pass low-mass hot-water boiler. We're installing one in Columbia/Boyertown trim (called the Solaia) as we speak. It will have a HeatWise power gas burner initially, but the lady will be able to have it changed to oil if she wishes. Watch for photos soon.

Another advantage of going this route is the power burner operates at a noticeably higher efficiency than the usual atmospheric gas burner. And since the oil-designed boiler is not wide-open at the base like the usual atmospheric gas boiler, it will have less stand-by loss.
