question for the day

Nice feathers-may he RIP.I'm not familiar with that unit. Is the pressure switch N.O. or N.C.? Does it sense draft or a plugged vent? Either way it seems like the burner should not have fired without some malfunction. What manometer readings did the tech record at the pressure switch?

question for the day
Customer calls for service
existing system we installed
5-6 years ago
burnham revolution
radiant floor heat with outdoor reset
domestic hot water priority with 80 gallon indirect
boiler vents straight-up 3" ss, via 2 offsets
combustion air from attic
complaint was intermintent hot water
heating season is all but finished here
technician arrives, finds gas valve intermintently working, replaces valve.
boiler runs until it warms-up, +/- 140* then stops, and starts the sequence over again.
performs troubleshooting verbatum of Burnhams I/O manual
still won't run until boiler hits high limit or call for heat ends.
any ideas on the problem/solution
we did finally find and repair the problem

Well...
Improper ground?
Vent damper motor not completing circuit to gas valve?
Boiler return temp minimum controlling the operating stat?
email me what it was if you're not ready to post the answer on the wall.

answer
in the revolution there is no vent damper, there is a pressure switch though?0 -
something
in the intake air pipe ? Or did they close off the attic vents ?
I don't think I'd take it from the attic.

all electrical connections and components were in working order, removed both intake and exhaust pipes from boiler, no change in boiler operation, changed pressure switch, still the same. marc0 -

Here is the problem
the bird somehow made it thru the vent termination, down +/- 20' of 3" ss, with a couple of offsets, then into the fan, the bird lost its beak from the fan. Just when you think you have seen it all!0 -

Critters
I once cleaned a mouse out of the flame cone of a W-M GV boiler.
Birds are good for about $400 every spring and again in the fall for me. Since they are Starlings and Grackles I don't feel bad
