4 different temperatures? Are these all for radiant zones? If so add all the temperatures together and divide buy the number of different temperatures to get an average.

If all fall within 10 degrees of this number. I wouldn't bother trying to get the supply temperatures to the gnats ****! Temperature wise.

If you have hwbb, air handlers, etc, that's a different story, of course.

    Taco radiant mixing block

I recently looked at a radiant staple up job for 3 bath which the plumber was going to use 3 pumps and mixing valves and i suggested that he may be able to use a taco RMB and use 3 zone valves to zone each bath .The largest bath is about 8500 btu lose and the other 2 where about 4000 btu lose ,my real question is will the internal pump on the RMB produce enough head to supply all the zones or is he better off sticking to the way he originally planned i would suugest if using the RMB that full port zone valves be used .This would be my first RMB that i have installed thanks for any advice and what the pros and cons are on my idea .Thanks peace and good luck clammy

    The system pump

is a 007 I believe. I should think that would be enough for such small loads. I've been looking for a job to use this product on. Got one coming up soon. WW

    Head & Flow

You need to know what the required flow is and what the resulting head loss is to be certain that things will work. The system pump on the RMB is a 008 and the injection pump is a 006.

Clammy, the RMB is a lot of bang for the buck.

because you are talking about staple ups and maybe 16-> 17K BTU's with three seperate zones you might be ahead of the game to use a taco I series R 4 way,and one pump, three zone valves.
  • I'll try

Thanks for the reply Hot Rod, I'll try my best about how this job came about... During the course of this home being built, I installed radaint heat in basement and garage floor while the rest of home is on sorched air (builder's choice, another story) using the boiler and the ipc panel... One temps, no plm... During 1st winter, master hot tub, 55 degree inside... Stapled up in master bath, tub deck, shower, tweeked the ipc panel, only plm, dog won't leave the bathroom... Next season, heavy carpeting in basement.... Problem! Needs differnt temp there... Now closed off the 3 seasons room to full use room, too many windows and carpeting over the floor heat ... Will install cast iron baseboard het as a suppelant(sp) heat with 2 stage thermostat on that zone.... Keep the ipc panel for garage zone, ( 1 temp) staple up (higher temp) basement zone, (lowest temp) closed off room rfh( 1 temp) baseboard at the highest temp... Hope I'm making sense here and the blessing of this job is customer have so much money and put trust in me and everything is time and material whatever I see fits...

    Drove me crazy

The first taco RMB that I installed had a loose internal wire to one of the pumps. Being the first time that I had installed one I was sure that I had done something wrong. After several hours af going over my insallation with a fine tooth comb I called tech support. After a lenghty diagnosis with them It was determined that one pump was not gettin power. Taco is an excellent company and the RMB is an excellent product but your going to use it for the first time made me laugh.

The Taco RMB is suitable for 120,000 thousand assuming a 15 delta T. The system pump is a Taco 008, and injection pump is 006. For your convenience I attached the catalog data, and the taco tutorial radiant guide, is available at www.taco-hvac.com to help select the best product candidates for your engineered design. The I-series valve is available as outdoor reset, and set-point version. And can be used with the RMB-1 for multiple temperature, or as a stand alone product.

I was just relating my first experience with the RMB. There was nothing to read between the lines. I didn't mean to drive any one crazy.
