    Great picture

My brother e-mailed this picture to me. We are both volunteers on our local dept. and I have a deep appreciation for the scenario shown in this picture.

    Steve

We were taught as kids that fire hydrants are sacred. Good picture. Poor, poor Beemer baby. Think they'll learn?

    Blizzard of 1978

A friend of mine was a Major in the Massachusetts National Guard back then. Right after the blizzard there was a driving ban and only a few shops were beginning to open up to foot traffic only. The good Major was driving a military bulldozer as a snow plow to clear roads to a hospital in a wealthy town west of Boston. Woman pulls up in a Mercedes, double parks in front of a dry cleaner to drop off her dresses.

Major O'B. gets on the bullhorn: M'am, there is a no driving order! Move your vehicle immediately!

She sneers at him that she is "only going to be a minute" and goes into the cleaners. The good Major again orders her to move her vehicle and she ignores him once again.

'Dozer locks into forward. Car gets pushed across the intersecting street into a snow bank. Backs up. Crushes it flat against the bank. Nothing the woman can do about it. She violated the driving ban, a lawful order and was blocking an emergency artery to an area hospital. Uninsurable.

    Public Safety Rocks.

Beemer drivers will never learn to use the turn signals as they think they are above all...

    I remember that storm

My Dad drove a 18 Wheel gasoline truck. The State Troopers came to the house to get him since they needed gas for the emergency trucks.

I was away at college and my friens woke me up on the fourth day to tell me they where digging cars out of the snow banks and towing them . I did'nt have the money to have my car towed so I dressed and ran down there.

I asked the head guy if I could get my car out of there would he not tow it. He laughed and said sure. MY car had been a snowback for about four days, completly buried. Well they dug it out, I climbed in and it started. The emergency crew could only laugh and shake their heads as I drove away. 1968 Chevy Nova with a straight six. That car would not die ( and I tried ).

As a fellow volunteer I can confirm that busting out the windows is truly priceless. In reality they didn't need to bust out the windows... Which is why the picture is so gratifying
