    Theory; we've run into double doors where only one was opened and the 2nd one locked for so long, that we just go for the one we know is open rather than run into a locked door.

    I think I picked that one up after about the 100th time I tried to open a locked right hand exit door.

    Just a theory though :D

    Yes, I too re-read the article thinking the editor got a hold of it and omited too much data. Typically I use the "right" door as if I were in traffic, driving, staying on the right hand side.
