I am sorry to post this here, but it clearly needs plumbing expertise which I know is in plenty here. I have had two houses both of which have a shower stall without a tub and the temptrol control and when you turn the shower off water drips for a bit then seems to stop. The problem is after a while it will drip some here and there, if you do anything with plumbing that seems to affect any slight water pressure, more drips fo a bit and it is noisy since each drip hitting the fiberglass is noiser than you might think. I changed the washers at first thinking it was leaking but it is exactyu the same, its like the water stays int he showerhead and pipe an unlike a tub version where it drains out when you switch to tub this doesnt. Both places were the same and just as annoying and I dont know what a solution might be, and am thinking sometng got missed when they were installed. Thank you very much

If your valves are cheap plastic cartridge type, good luck. Try changing your shower head to one that drains out more quickly when shut off...Do you have the same problem with the shower head removed?

Thank you, the shower valve is the Temptrol, the basic model that is seen all the time that rotates from off to whatever htemp you want, it is a single handle. Thank you

    It's called gravity :)

I'm betting it doesn't drip like that throughout a 24 hr period w/o being used. Kinda hard for water and air to pass each other through those tiny holes in the head. Eventually gravity wins.

    A simple

solution you could try Chris is installing a valve on the chrome nipple just before the shower head.

All plumbing supply houses have them and even the big boxes should.

It doesn't sound like a faulty valve if the dripping stops after a few minutes.

    Good luck,

    seen this before

I've seen this occur in the past where thermal expansion was affecting shower valves. Any shock to the piping (running a faucet, etc.) system would cause a wee bit of dripping.

If you don't have a thermal expansion tank, I'd start there and if one is in place, make sure it's the right size and working properly.

    Had this many times

I have had this problem many times . When you flush a toilet or run another faucet the shower drips. There is probablt foregin matter (ie: dirt or solder) stuck in the balancing spool. This is very common with the american standard versions. Behind the washers or cartdridge you will find the spoll and can usually clean i twithout having to replace it. hope this helps.

just for the sake of mentioning this, you replaced the washers, what about the seat assembly? If it was scratched due to debris/sediment, it will scratch the new washer and leak alomost immediately.
