Reset EK2000???

Well, I was thinking along the lines that for around 90% of the heating season I do not need to deliver 180+ degree water to my baseboard. It seems to me that although we would need to maintain a return temp above the condensation level, there would be no need to produce 180 deg water when all that was needed may be 150.

I was wondering about using a reset control, with a DHW override to do that. Make sense?

Thanks for your time

Mike

    reset EK2000

    Hi all,

Is there a way to tie in an outdoor reset control with an EK2000 (with the energy manager). I know that EK says it isn't needed but I am wondering what some independant opinions may be....

    Thanks

    why would you need it?

The EK boiler purges itself of its heat after every cycle so the boiler water temperature is about 90 degrees after a demand is met. There would be no point in having an outdoor reset with this boiler so you would be wasting your money having one installed.

you may not want the reset for the boiler however,

the buffer tank could use reset. depends on how it is piped and if you are looking for using it to control the radiant and letting the system 2000 control board take care of the boiler. thats my thought. not someone elses.

    EK/Reset

Think of your system this way. It is cold start and does not maintain temperature. A zone calls for heat say this time of year, that 2.5 Gal of water begins to heat and circulate adding a minimal amount of heat to the zone which is all it needs. The thermostat reaches it's set point and cuts off the burner which probably never reached high limit. The EK System Manager purges the remaining heat into the water tank. Nothing wasted. That's the simple explanation of what makes the EK energy efficient.
