Can you over do main vents?

on a 1 pipe steamer?
Have 1 gorton #2 and was thinking of adding another..
Curious though, what would happen if you had 5 or 6 at one spot on your main??
BTW, anyone ever hear of the gorton main vents staying hot and not re-opening on subsequent cycles?

you can't over vent the main,
IMHO, but you can have more vents than that one individual tapping can pass air for..if you have 6 gorton #2 main vents on a 1/2'' tap youve already maxed out the cfm a 1/2'' tap can pass and are now wasting money on vents..hope i explained that okay..and yes, the gortons can pick up ambiant heat and stay closed after the initial run..you have to place them carefully..you may have to move the gortons to a cooler area, or replace them with hoffmans that operate differently and arn't sensitive like the bi-metal in the gorton..but gorton vents better,

Gerry - I have a single 3/4" tapping presently servicing two (2) Gorton #2's on each of my mains - How many more Gorton #2's could I add off each 3/4" pipe before it became futile or maxed out? I am just curious based on what you said in the previous post. Thanks.0 -
my testing came up with,
the math came out at 4 gorton #2 and 1 gorton #1 maxing out the cfm of a 3/4'' tapping.
