Toe Kick design?

Read all about diverter Tees in the Hot Tech Topics section to your left.

I use to use two diverter tees for all my kickspace heaters. Now I know better. One is all that is needed in most cases and I've found that just one placed downstream (like Ted says) of the unit works very well.

    Toe Kick design?

    Hi all,

I'm in the middle of some home construction. I added a 2nd floor to my home. Current heating system is hydronic baseboard. For the 2nd floor I've added 2 additional zones.

I'm a bit perplexed as to what to do with the bath. I cannot put in baseboard due to the design of the room and was planning on using a Toe kick. All of the Toe kicks I'm finding are 1/2", this is where I'm not sure what the best course of action is.

    Do I:

A, Not worry about the restricton the 1/2" is going to cause on the zone it's being placed.

B, Put the Toe kick in parallel to the 3/4" supply. I know flow will be restricted, but it should still get "some" right?

C, Put a 3/4x1/2x1/2 tee inline, letting 1 pass thru the Toe kick and the other bypass it.

    Thanks for your time.

    Absolutely perfect!

Would you recomend using a single monoflow at the supply to the toe kick or would you prefer to see 2 in there, both at the supply and return.

This would be above the main, circ's are on the boiler return.

    return---circs---boiler---supply----monoflow tee to toekick-----to return

    Thanks!

If you are going in to a 3/4 copper loop, put one monoflo tee in and one regular tee. The first tee is the regular tee then the monoflo tee.

    Confused

I've read directions that have called for two diverters for a kickspace(3/4"x1/2"). Should I anticipate a problem? I've had no issues to date so I guess I followed the directions to a "tee". Anyone used or seen this method of kickspace piping?

You don't happen to be Gary Wallace formally of Massachusetts? Relative Dan "crusher" Paterson?
  • The one and only.

Who might you be? Are you that drunk guy who used to hit on my girlfriend Cheryl and kicked the front grill out of my work van?
