2 pipe reverse return piping question

I've been looking at 2 pipe reverse return piping diagrams for hydronic system. Steel panel radiators with TRVs.

Say I have an Outdoor reset controller and the zone is open and circulating all season. If every TRV is closed and no water is flowing through any radiator, then there is no path for the circulation to follow. Should the pump run though the water is not moving?

A 1 pipe system system has a complete circuit path if all radiator are off.

There should be a pressure differential bypass installed or a loop with out the thermostatic head.

    Phil,

Most hydronic panel radiator manufacturers have OEM bypass valves for their radiators as standard equipment. These bypass valves will shunt approximately 65% of flow (this percentage is adjustable) if that radiator's trv is closed. This will allow circulator to still push some flow even though the trv is closed. These OEM bypass valves mate right up with the radiator tappings, then your pipe connections screw onto the bypass tappings. Have used them several times on the Buderus panels. Hope this helps.

Those bypass valves are not included with most panel rads. So make sure you have the right parts. They are a valve that connects to the supply and return connections.

Here is one ala Mark Eatherton...

I was waiting for ME to post this, but this is one of his drawings that I think is very practical. The panel rads with TRV's off of the primary loop which has it's own Differential Bypass Valve. Piping the panel rads in reverse return would be easy right off of the primary. Good Stuff.
