A better way to cut the glass is with an internal sight glass cutter (sid harveys)

Can anyone give me instructions on how to change the glass tube on my steam boiler, it has a very small leak0 -
Glass water tube
you'll need to order a new sight glass and get yourself a chain tube cutter,or order the exact size from the supplier. also needed are new brass nuts and rubber grommets. shut off the boiler and let it cool down. there should be shut offs above and below glass, close these and remove the two rods from either side of glass. then its a simple fix, using a wrench loosen the nuts and lower the glass tube to clear the valves, install new site glass and adjust to have the same amount inserted in each valve.[top & bottom]tighten new nuts and gromets. DONT OVER TIGHTEN Good Luck Freon0 -
You may just have to
Tighten the nut a little, but be careful. Bob
