CO Poisonings

The problem with service checks is their are no real standards. Sure you can say we follow this book or that, or we offer a 23 point check up which among other important services we check the tightness of your tye wraps. Until you can develop a legal inspection list as some states do with automobiles, you will never be able to hold a servicer accountable. As a servicer the best I can suggest is to get your guys NATE certified. IMHO. Best Wishes J.Lockard

    More media scrutiny?

Is it my imagination are are there more stories about CO poisonings now? Could it be that people still "don't get it?" The latest is 15 people in a Cleveland church being taken to local hospitals. Here is an excerpt from the story:

"Collins said that carbon monoxide had built up to extraordinarily high levels in the church because a new heating system had not been properly vented."

How about we start pressing criminal charges against these companies that do bad installations and bad service checks?

Sorry, just venting (no pun intended).

I do not know what NATE teaches. Just that they seem to be respected. Best Wishes J.Lockard

    Keep venting John

This is real and it isn't going to get better until the issue is addressed seriously.

Once the lawyers catch on to this you can bet your last dollar that the suing will begin. AND they will WIN!

I have customer right now that could sue the utility (National Grid), a plumber and a chimney sweep company. All three allowed his family to be exposed to CO. I caught this one, but how many more are out there that I never see??

Criminally negligent homocide is what it is. If a person installs or sevices a combustion appliance and doesn't test it is no different than getting behind the wheel after 10 shots of Tequila. Ignorance kills and far too often it kills the innocent by-stander.

So you vent away John. Bad things happen when things "don't vent".
