pex with plates

It sounds strange that it would kink at 12" center.
Are the aluminum panels too close to the end of the bay? where does it kink exactly?

I must admit, I rarely use 1/2 when doing a staple up. I perfer 3/8 and design for the same results.

    12\" O.C. pex with plates

Well my own home new addition, used the thermofin
plates with 1/2" viega pex, all the plates are up
The problem is I could not bend tube without kinking.
So I decided to cut tube and run the hard way, threading
to each bay and hole a real pain in the a--.
I have some more to do. any ideas?

    12\"OC

Should be no problem for even the stiffest 1/2" pex. Do you have any photos you could post?

rich, take a look at Marks oops box on his

snow melt experiment...you could do something like that , as a thought. then if the plates ran out a little too close to the ends you could make a go of it. soft copper migh be a better deal as lots of 90s brings the developed length way up way fast.

    mostly done!

Well thanks for the interest, I appreciate the help.
The reason it kinked, I guess, was it was cold and I was
trying to pull through and twist method (not sure what they cal that) Just to narrow, I had no problem in the area I have 14" o.c. that was easy.
    Whats Mark's oops box?
    Thank's

    Try a PEXa

Instead of Veiga, next time try the more fleible PEXa from Rehau or Wirsbo. Even if you get a kink you can take it out with a heat gun without worrying about it. I've only seen it kink bending 6" centers.

    Threading every joist!

I've found 8" on center, with two tubes per bay eliminates pulling the entire loop through every joist. Are the joist 12" on center? Or how do you get 12" in 16" oc joists?

that hot rod says right ....

real tight floor joyst spaces though are a real hassel... id waste the extra return length to the side of the bay ,tack it to the thermal mass and go with it.

    Sorry, 14\" joists o.c.

The joists are 14" on center, so the space between is roughly 12" two tubes per bay. It was difficult, I kinked 6 times even after threading one at a time
I wanted not to have to couple but I could help it.
    Next time Onix
    Thanks

    Like the guys above

I use 3/8 pex on staple up. It makes like easier. You must run shorter loops than the 1/2 so that means more manifold loops but it's worth the lack of aggravation on the whole. WW

I do this for a living and

after 20 some years tubibng I STILL kink tube from time to time :)

The Wirsbo HePex can be heated and un-kinked. Very handy. PAP and others need to be cut and coupled.

It helps to have two guys to thread an pull pex in joist bays like that.
