Heat-Timer Varivalves

for jobs that require fast venting to achieve balance..they are not very popular here, probably because no local supply house stocks them..my mainstay is also gorton vents..mostly the ''c'' and ''d'' models..but i've got 24 varivents on order currently, if that helps you out..

    Heat-Timer Varivalves

Does anybody have experience using Heat-Timer Varivalves for venting radiators? They promise better performance than Gorton or Hoffman, no clicking or hissing and easier balancing since you can easily adjust each valve. My neighbor just had them put in and he is satisfied so far. I've never heard of them before and was wondering what the experts thought.

    They are decent,

    but pricey.

They are also so small as to spit water when excess water vapor is in the vented air. The Gorton's (my all time favorite) have a large enough body to allow slowed, vapor laden air, to separate out before releasing the air.

I have also had a lot of Heat Timer units blow out the seal/disk/cap when even the slightest water hammer is present.

    Quick Question

    Gerry,
When you install the varivents in a house, what steps do you take to adjust the venting for even heat? Do you open them up all the way and adjust down?

    Thanks,
    Bob
