Rebuild Lg. Taco flow-checks?

I've got a lg smith boiler w/ 2 taco black iron flow checks that are not stopping convection flow and are overheating the space. They're 1 1/2", The green ones. Can these be rebuilt or cleaned other than changing them out? It's an old steam system that had been converted to water and of course no shutoffs after the flow checks. Thx

Clean Flowvalves
Why yes,it's very rare I find that they need to be changed.Clean the weight, seat and stem with a fine steel wool .0 -
Thx Big Ed I'll try cleaning them up and install some new gaskets and packing seals. There really shouldn't be anything to "break".0 -
they can be cleaned
You can take the top assembly off for cleaning and reassemble them. For your reference I attached the instruction sheet.
